Must See Destination

Aizawl

Aizawl once upon a time was a small hill post, today it's a sprawling city rising in tiers upon a green hill side at a height of 4000 ft overlooking deep river valleys to its east. One of the interesting aspects of this picturesque city is the number of attractive churches built in almost every quarter of the city from where gospel music and songs emanate every day. Chanmari is where you'll find mainly school and college going youngsters strumming guitars and generally hanging out. A stroll among the streets of Aizawl is a fascinating way of getting to know its people, experiencing their lifestyle and their cuisine leaning heavily on Pork dishes and rice. Indulge in shopping for Chinese and South East Asian products like shoes, garments, and electronic stuff. You can also buy a range of local handicrafts like the iptechai bags, small colourful purses and the comfortable traditional wrap around.

Tribal Discovery also takes you to visit the State Museum which stores a few neglected wild life specimens and weapons; Chatlang - 3 Kms from the city at 3713 ft the highest point in the city with good views of the surrounding hills and valleys; Tlangnuam at 6 Kms with a tower offering god views of Aizawl. The Zemabawk church on the way to the pleasant picnic area of the Berawtlang Tourist Complex is an exquisite wooden structure, brightly lit up with numerous light bulbs at night; further afield from Aizawl there's the sparkling 750 feet high cascade of the Vantawng waterfalls 137 Kms away; 210 Kms from the city is the appealing hill town of Champhai with its sericulture farming and laid back lifestyle. The serene Tamdil lake with dense forests and bamboo groves all around lies 85 Kms away and is an ideal days getaway for boating and if desired an overnight stay at the quaint Tourist lodge. I f you're looking for some foreign merchandise we head for Champai a hill town on the border with Myanmar which also offers great view of the neighbouring hills across the border.

All said and done, Mizoram offers you one the most wonderful holidays among the breathtaking land of the north east and Tribal Discovery makes the magic come alive.
